Puerto Morelos is located in the Riviera Maya, between Playa del Carmen and Cancun (only 20 minutes from Cancun Airport), so it is the perfect base to explore all along the Riviera. Puerto Morelos is a fishing village community, go fishing with local people and then cook what you got and enjoy it with you family and friends !

The town of Puerto Morelos has some stores, dive shops and restaurants.
In this little paradise you can enjoy relaxing, exploring all its nature, discovering sites.

If you would like to spend a busy night, you can go to Playa del Carmen there you will find a lot of bars, restaurants and a funny night life.

El Cafe: Vegetarian Cafe with excellent sandwiches made on homemade whole wheat bread, accompanied by natural fruit and vegetable juices.

La Cordobeza:Offering traditional Mexican breakfasts (huevos rancheros, huevos a la Mexicana).
Palapa Pizza: Salads, calzones, and pizzas. Beautiful courtyard in back with Mexican buffet on weekends.
Pelicano's: Fresh seafood, shrimp cocktails and ceviches served under a huge palapa on the beach.
Posada Amor: One of the oldest restaurants in Puerto Morelos popular on Sundays for its breakfast buffet. Sea Food and Yucatan dishes.

Taxi: Prices start at $2.00 in the village. You can also walk beacause Puerto Morelos is very small.

Bus: There is a bus stop located on Highway 307 on northern or southern points.
One-way trips to Cancun or Playa del Carmen cost approximately $1.20.
There are no buses from the highway into the village or vice a versa.
Other: Some of the hotels and agencies in town rent bicycles by the day or by hour.
CITY SERVICES:
Mail: / There is a small mailbox on the wall beside El Pirata restaurant in the main square.
Stamps are sold at the pharmacy.
You can receive mail address to you c/o Don Chevo,
Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, 77580, Mexico.
There is a $1.00 charge for picking up letters or having them delivered.
The mail in Mexico is extremely slow and can take up to six weeks for delivery.
Medical Care: The local Clinic of Puerto Morelos, Central de Salud, is open from 8 AM to 1 PM and 4 PM to 9 PM. It is located on the main street, opposite the high school. The doctor
speaks a little English. The doctor has an emergency number if the clinic is closed .
There is also another doctor up in the colonia at the taxi office. Hours vary.
One Pharmacy is in town and the other two are on the Hihway.

ELECTRICITY:
The electricity standard is 110 volt AC, the same as in the US and Canada.
Most of the hotels do not have three prong outlets so bring an adaptor.
Brownouts and blackouts are not uncommon in the town, particularly after a heavy rainstorm.
Just go with the flow, light a candle and the electricity will soon return.
