Civil Wedding requirements
Valid passports for the couple and 2 witnesses
Birth Certificate Copy
Tourist visa for the couple and 2 witnesses (all foreigners get a tourist visa at immigration in the airport after landing in Mexico)
Blood test (blood type and HIV test). This blood test must be done here in Mexico and certified by a local doctor.
Completed application form with home address and occupation of the bride and groom
Divorce certificate (if applicable)
Religious weddings
Catholics can be married in the local parish church.
The couple must have a certificate from their own parish priest which states that they have completed the required pre-marriage courses (pre-Cana).
The service is in Spanish only.
Protestant weddings are also available.
Please note that couples who have a religious wedding in Mexico do not receive a marriage license unless they also register with the justice of the peace.
Mayan Weddings
There are several kinds of wedding ceremonies which can be performed by a Mayan shaman.These weddings can range from a simple ritual ceremony to a very refined wedding service.
